Born in Macon, Ga, Mauri “Bellz” Bailey’s earliest musical passions included The Boys, New Kids On the Block, and *NSYNC. Mauri began writing lyrics on a regular basis when she was 11. She took things to the next level in high school by taking every vocal music elective available. In her senior year, she collaborated with her school’s jazz band for a studio recording session. The song ended up on a funk label, with Mauri getting writing credits. Mauri’s passion for music re-ignited in 2013, after winning a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet Justin Timberlake as part of the “JT’s Biggest Fan” contest. It was meeting Justin and watching him perform that inspired her to dive back into music. Feeling inspired to create, her inability to find beats to match her songs led her to teach herself how to create her own. After teaching herself the basics, she decided to cover Justin’s “LoveStoned,” and recreate the track as closely as possible as practice. Successfully completing this project gave her the confidence to fully produce her own music. Continuing to work on songs through nursing school and a brief career in the NYPD, Mauri stayed focused on her goal, even through a chronic illness. Her hard work paid off when she released her first self-produced album “Delayed Adolescence,” on August 23rd, 2019. She followed it up with “Late Bloomer,” on September 18th, 2020. Her latest project, Evolution, dropped March 13th, 2021. The albums are available everywhere.
